• Starting the Game
  • On the welcome screen, select play to begin.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • With your keyboard, use the arrows or WASD keys to move the boxes.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap on the arrows on the bottom center of the screen to move the boxes.
  • Controls and indicators (left to right)
    • Top
      • Score
    • Bottom
      • X button: Quits the game and returns you to the welcome screen
      • Arrows
      • Reset button: Starts the game from the beginning
• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • Move the boxes to merge them.
      • Only identical boxes can merge together.
      • Each box, when merged, grows into a value that’s twice that of the previous two boxes.
    • Each time you make a move, you generate another box that has the value of 2.
      • Some of these new boxes may merge with pre-existing 2 boxes, creating a 4 instead.
      • Make sure you can move these new boxes to where they can be merged.
    • Keep merging boxes until you run out of space or one of the merged boxes has the value of 2048.
      • The game ends when you run out of space.
  • Scoring
    • You earn points based on the value of the boxes you merge. For instance, merging 2 and 2 will gain you 4 points.
    • The longer you play, the higher your score.
  • Technique
    • Stick to only two directions. Restrict most of your movements downward and to one side.
      • We recommend moving the boxes to the left.
      • Sticking to one side allows you to form a large number.
    • To keep the large tile from moving out of the corners, never move up.
    • Keep the side with the largest number completely full. This will help keep the large number in place.
